From the time the bell rings on the last day of school, students wonder what the summer months may bring.  This summer it brought movies like “The Lion King,” “Toy Story 4,” “Hobbs and Shaw,” and “The Art of Racing in the Rain.”

The 2019 “Lion King” is a remake of the 1994 version.  It is similar to the old version except the music has been updated and the cartoon animals are now animated so they appear real.

Hailey Scott said, “I didn’t like the 1994 version because it was like a cartoon and the animals weren’t cute.”

Kaylyn Weichel liked the 1994 version better than the 2019 version because the animals in the new version weren’t as cute as the original cartoon animals.

“The Toy Story” saga added a fourth movie about Bonnie going on a trip with all her toys, including a new toy named Forky. On their trip, Woody sees an old friend, Bo Peep.

“I think they should have ended with the 3rd one,” stated Makailey Shumaker.

“The Art of Racing in the Rain” was made based on the book by Garth Stein.  The movie starts out with a dog named Enzo who starts bonding with his owner, Denny, a race car driver.

Junior Isabella Bull said, “I got connected to the dog because I love animals, however, I would change the ending so that the dog becomes a puppy at the end like the movie, ‘A Dog’s Purpose.’”

The movie added to the Fast and Furious franchise called “Hobbs and Shaw” is about lawman Luke Hobbs and outcast Deckard Shaw who come together when a cyber-enhanced villain threatens the future of people.

Freshman Wyatt Sutherland commented, “It was weird because it was all animated, but otherwise it was pretty good.”

The summer of 2019 brought different genres of movies to the big screen. From action to tragic plots, these movies brought something for everyone to enjoy.
