Senior Hiller Staff Member: Breea Gray

What is your favorite memory from being part of the Hiller staff?

I really like to see things come to fruition, especially if I am the individual who worked on it. Therefore, when my first article was published, it was a sense of accomplishment and pride.

What are you going to miss most about being a part of the newspaper?

I buzzed in and out because I wrote my articles in my free time but the sense of reliance between the students is evident and the assistance I received in the process was both encouraging and effective. I guess, I will miss that dependability!

How many red pens did Mrs. O’Lare use to correct your articles?

God Bless her! I love to write but I often use the Oxford comma and forget to place a comma … or ten. I joined with few months left in the year so I was unfamiliar with the journalistic style but let’s just say, in that small amount of time, quite a few pens have made their final journey to that trashcan in the sky.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I aspire to become an epidemiologist at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention or the World Health Organization.

Where are you going to college and what are you majoring in?

I will be attending Allegheny College with a major in Global Health Studies.

What is the best article you’ve ever written?

I think all of my articles were written to the best of my abilities given the topics, but my favorite one to write was the feature article on Syd Shook. She’s an amazing individual, and I wanted to capture her creativity and positivity in my article so I made sure to add a more whimsical touch to the article.

What advice do you have for future staff members?

Writer’s block? It happens to everyone at some point. Just relax, take a deep breath and write your next paragraph until an idea comes to you for the last one. Perhaps, add a few puns to lighten the mood and stimulate your creative mindset! Overall, pick a topic that you feel most comfortable writing and every once and awhile, add a few puns, just for Breea.

Is there anything you’d like to add?

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the individuals who made my four years at Trinity High School a success, both in co-curriculars and academics!
