Senior Hiller Staff Member: Makenzie Marino

What is your favorite memory from being part of the Hiller staff?

All of Maddie and I’s shenanigans in the back of the room that resulted in the funniest snapchat stories. Also, when I accidentally spit my gum on Mr. Modrak. Oops.

What are you going to miss most about being a part of the newspaper?

We’ve all become so comfortable with each other over the years, so I’ll mostly miss the simple things like our end of the year parties and daily talks.

How many red pens did Mrs. O’Lare use to correct your articles?

She’s probably gone through a pack or two.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I hope I just love my job and get to travel the world.

Where are you going to college and what are you majoring in?

I’ll be attending Penn State University and majoring in Finance.

What is the best article you’ve ever written?

I’m not sure about my best, but my favorites would be any of my April fools articles just because they were so fun to write.

What advice do you have for future staff members?

Be creative and have fun with all of your articles!

Why did you choose to take journalism?

At first I took Journalism 1 because I had a free period and it was one of the only electives available. I went on to take Journalism 2 because Maddie & I were trying to schedule all of the same classes together. After being apart of The Hiller that year, I knew I wanted to continue because it was so fun.

Is there anything you’d like to add?

Thanks to everyone for being a part of some of my favorite high school memories, love you guys!
