Easter is a religious holiday that celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Most families celebrate the Resurrection of Christ because it is part of their faith. Along with every holiday, Easter has traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. Traditions include hunting for Easter eggs and the iconic Easter basket filled with different sorts of chocolate.

Easter is one of the oldest holidays in the Christian religion. Before Easter arrives, churches celebrate Ash Wednesday, which leads to Lent. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Easter season. Lent represents the forty days that Jesus was in the desert. More important masses that lead up to Easter are Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. All these masses represents the life of Jesus leading up to his death and resurrection.

Most religions celebrate this sacred holiday including Christians. Every holiday has their traditions, and Easter is no different. Some famous Easter traditions are dyeing eggs for the Easter bunny, and receiving baskets of chocolate, watching parades on tv, and spending time with family.

Senior Camryn Kirschner stated, “My family still does the Easter baskets for me and my brother. I will most likely pass this tradition down.”

Senior Ashley Bedillion stated, “My family has had the same traditions from when they grew up, and they were passed down to me.”

Enjoy Easter in all of its chocolate glory, and have fun spending it with friends and family.
