How many years have you been teaching?

I’ve been teaching for 22 years.

Have you taught at any other schools? If so which ones?

I taught at Chartiers Houston for six years and in North Carolina for one.

What college did you attend?

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

What made you want to become a teacher?

I had really good teachers in school that influenced me.

What is your favorite part of teaching?

My favorite part of teaching is interacting with the students. I also like watching them succeed.

When you aren’t teaching, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling.

What’s the most rewarding part of being a physical education teacher?

Having a kid come back after 10 years to thank me for not only teaching them but also helping them make decisions for their future.

What has teaching taught you about yourself and life?

That there is always more than one way to do things.

If you could give someone who might be interested in this career advice, what would it be?

Volunteer as a coach or mentor to determine if you like it or not. Then, judge what to do after that.
